Brushless DC motor position sensor working principle.

Mainly according to the rotor position change in a certain order to switch the stator winding current, that is, detect the position of the rotor pole relative to the stator winding, in the determined position to generate the position sensing signal, after the signal conversion circuit processing to control the power switch circuit, according to a certain logic relationship to switch the winding current.

Commonly, there are 3 types of magnetic, photoelectric and electromagnetic types.

1. Brushless DC motor with magnetic position sensor, its magnetic sensor components, such as Hall elements, magnetic diodes, magnetic transistors, etc., are installed on the stator assembly to detect the magnetic field changes caused by the rotation of the permanent magnet and rotor.

2. DC brushless motor with photoelectric position sensor, the photoelectric sensor is configured in a certain position on the stator assembly, the rotor is equipped with a shading plate, and the light source is a light-emitting diode or a small light bulb. When the rotor rotates, the photosensitive element on the stator will intermittently generate a pulse signal at a certain frequency due to the role of the light shield.

3. Brushless DC motors with electromagnetic position sensors are equipped with electromagnetic sensor components, such as coupling transformers and proximity switches, on the stator assembly. When the rotor position of the permanent magnet changes, the electromagnetic effect will cause the electromagnetic sensor to generate a high frequency modulated signal.
