What types of brushless motor rotors are there? How are the common types divided?

Brushless motors are becoming more and more widely used, many fields are useful, many friends are not very clear about the types of brushless motors, in fact, there are three main categories, mainly the inner rotor type, outer rotor type and disc rotor type.

1、Inner rotor type

Inner rotor type, the rotor is located inside the stator and the segmented permanent magnet device is on the surface of the rotor. Due to the small rotor diameter and small moment of inertia, it has good acceleration and deceleration response.

2、Outer rotor type

Outer rotor type, the rotor is located outside the stator, the permanent magnet is located inside the rotor, the segmented permanent magnet device is on the inner exterior of the rotor, the position of the stator and permanent magnet is opposite to the position of the inner rotor type. The rotor has a large moment of inertia, poor acceleration and deceleration response, and is not suitable for sensitive motion, but still provides good speed stability. Due to the larger rotor diameter, more magnets can be installed and the number of poles is increased compared to the inner rotor type. This makes it possible to accomplish high output power in a compact size.

3、Disk rotor type

With the disk rotor type, the stator is constructed by installing windings and pole sensors on a circuit board. As the plate permanent magnets are located on the rotor surface, they face the stator, thus this variety of motor is very thin. It is used to maintain a stable and fixed speed under light loads. There is no shaft, so the load is installed on the rotor.
