1, check the body color: due to long-term work at high temperatures or long-term overcurrent, the motor body color will be dark gray.

2, feel: by rotating the shaft perception, if the resistance is too large, you can judge the motor winding short circuit, similarly, if the opposite occurs, it can be considered that the motor phase line disconnection.

3, the rotating shaft is not smooth: the motor rolling shaft is not normal or the motor stator and rotor magnetic gap is too small, it will lead to excessive vibration of the motor, which is a defect, if it is too smooth, it will reduce the torque performance of the motor; some motors will come with a spring pad, the role of the spring pad is to reduce the impact of the rolling shaft movement on the motor and reduce vibration.

4, measurement: stepper motor phase resistance in a few tenths (5A-6A), a few ohms (2A-3A) to a dozen ohms (1.5A or less), the same motor, if one of the phase is too small or too large, can be considered a motor abnormal.

5, test: some defects are not obvious in the manual or low-speed state, need to be detected through testing, such as high-speed vibration, high-speed noise, etc.; current response can show the quality and performance of the motor, such as the same motor open-loop holding current is too high, low-speed operation generates a lot of heat, excessive noise.
