(1) Grouping

2) Current: Select a current for testing, usually from small to large, until the maximum working current under the voltage. Some will be marked at the same time the proportion of throttle (maximum current).

(3) pull: the pull measured under the current, some will be marked at the same time to account for the maximum pull ratio (the smaller the ratio means the more abundant motor pull), speed (with speed can estimate the speed of rise of the aircraft), temperature (the actual use of the motor temperature can be measured to assess whether the motor is abnormal).

(5) force efficiency: pull / power to get force efficiency, said per W power motor pull, the greater the force efficiency means higher efficiency. The same weight of the aircraft, the greater the force effect of the motor, the longer the hovering time.

3) Select the most reasonable motor pull
Although the minimum current force effect is large, but the pull force is small, wasting the motor power, the maximum current force effect is the smallest and can not choose, can only choose the middle section of the force effect.

At the same time to consider the actual flight of the vehicle needs to pull, such as a total weight of 1200g four-axis, theoretically each axis 300g pull can take off, but the vehicle to go forward and backward turn and roll, and fixed point when the constant adjustment of each axis motor pull, wind to use pull against wind speed, so only 300g pull is certainly not enough, at least 30% of the redundancy should be retained, preferably 50% – 60%, that is, to have 600g motor pull. Check the table and see that the force effect of 600g is 7.37g/W, which is lower than the 9.65g/W of 300g, but it is also a reasonable range.

If the force efficiency of the required pull is too small, then we should consider choosing other voltages and propellers under the force efficiency, if it is still too small, it means that this motor is not suitable for you to use, to change the motor.

(2) Some motors do not provide force efficiency table, if you are not very experienced in the performance of a motor, it is recommended to choose only the motor with force efficiency table.

3)Some force efficiency table lacks 100% throttle pull, so you can’t judge the balance of pull; some pull tables start from 50% throttle test, so you can’t know the force efficiency of low percentage throttle.

(4) Only a few provide RPM data, so it is difficult to make an estimate of the vehicle speed.

5) Some of the force tables only have 1-2 data, so it is difficult to calculate the required force effect accurately.

6) The force effect table is limited to a few propellers (mostly APC, DJJ and a few other manufacturers) for testing, T-motor’s force effect table’s are with their own propellers. We choose the propeller, try to choose the manufacturer’s recommended specifications, at least the same diameter. For T-motor and others that only use their own propellers, it is possible to replace them with other propellers of the same size (or the same diameter).

7) There is inaccuracy and water in the force efficiency table. The manufacturer’s test conditions and standards are different, so the force efficiency table will be different in practice, but at least it will reduce the scope of our search for the best solution. In your deep doubts about a force efficiency table, the best way is not to use this motor, find you feel that the reliable force efficiency table to do reference.
