1. Scope of application.

Brushless motor: usually used for control requirements are relatively high, high speed equipment, such as models, precision instruments, etc., the motor speed regulation requirements are strict, high speed.
Brush motor: usually power equipment using brush motor, due to carbon brush wear, service life is not as long as brushless motor, but the application is still quite wide.

2. Service life.

Brushless motor: usually the service life is in the order of tens of thousands of hours, but due to the different bearings, the service life of brushless motors also varies greatly.

Carbon brush motor: the general brush motor continuous working life of a few hundred to more than 1000 hours. Carbon brushes need to be replaced when they reach their use limit, otherwise they are likely to cause bearing wear.

3. Use effect.

Brushless motor: usually digital frequency control, controllable, from a few revolutions per minute to tens of thousands of revolutions can be easily achieved.

Carbon brush motor: carbon brush motor is usually working at constant speed after starting, speed regulation is not easy.

4. Energy saving.

Relatively speaking, brushless motors controlled by inverter technology are more energy-efficient than brushed motors. Typical are inverter air conditioners and refrigerators.

5. In the future maintenance, the need to replace the carbon brush motor. If not replaced in time, it will damage the motor. Brushless motors have a long service life, usually more than 10 times that of brushed motors, but break down. The motor needs to be replaced, but basically does not require routine maintenance.

6. The noise aspect has nothing to do with whether the motor is brushed or not, but mainly depends on the fit of the bearings and internal parts of the motor.

The parameter index of brushless motor, besides size, weight, voltage range, no-load current, current and other parameters, there is another index – KV value. kv value is a unique performance parameter of brushless motor, which is an important data to judge the performance characteristics of brushless motor.

Brush/Brushless Motor

As can be seen from the above, brushless motors are basically better than brushed motors in all aspects of performance, but in some areas, brushed motors are still more popular, some of the requirements are not high, infrequent use of products with brushes is also sufficient.
